Default LS3 Top end

Just purchased some 821 heads and wish to maintain stock compression. Can someone please confirm the following....

I will need to have the heads milled .030 and cc'd to 64 cc?
Will my bolts for the LS2 manifold work for the LS3 manifold?
I need head gaskets that are .040 thick? Can our should I buy LS9 had gaskets?

Thanks

Mill .030 to keep the stock compression , you can use the LS9 gasket or the L72 or any 4.060 bore gasket either the stock .054 or an aftermarket .040 for more compression. Depending on your can you will probably need to flycut the pistons.

Not sure on the intake manifold bolts.

The cam will be an ecs small blower cam. I doubt I will need to flycut the pistons. ithink the lift on that cam is under .590. I plan on supercharging down the road, but want to keep stock compression so that she isn't a dog while N/A. Thanks for the info.

The fact that you are supercharging it would have been nice to know before. With that in mind, don't mill the heads, just use a .040 head gasket and the proper length pushrod, then, when you put the supercharger on, replace the head gaskets with the LS9 and replace the pushrods.

Thanks for the responses. I should have mentioned that, yes. There are a couple things I am trying to avoid here: flycutting, losing power/torque due to lowered compression, and having to remove the heads twice. What is my best bet keeping these in mind?

Blowers and NA are exclusive of each other, camshaft design can help, but what helps a blower isn't exactly the best for NA.

Install the cam and wait to install the heads till you're ready to install the power adder.

I'd use the thinnest head gasket that will reliably seal your motor. Going that direction will allow you to mill the least. I'd do it all at once. There's a jillion supercharged stock compression LS1,2,3, and even 7's living long and living large. Nothing wrong with running stock compression if the tune is right, you have good quality (consistent) fuel, and have an adequate fueling system.

This is what I would prefer to do. I have a very good tuner (Formato), will run a BAP and methanol. So I will have enough fuel. Any suggestions on the gasket thickness? I get my heads and manifold next week and would like to install shortly thereafter.

Lower compression will allow more boost, which equals more power, without bandaids.

I suggest you call the people you plan on getting your supercharge from and ask their opinion.
