Okay so I have changed alternator three times from stock to AutoPart to dealer
It spikes up to 18volts and the wiring in the car does get extra hot it's randomly seems to happen whenever charges normal on idle after stepping on it etc itl go and if I even accelerate it cruising it will keep going up fast. I have to put in neutral and let it come back down.
Any opinions???
2007 c6 z
441 stroker Procharged v3
85 lb injectors
A1000 fuel pump stealth kit everything ran fine etc besides issue with charging it's driving me nuts
When I had a Procharged C4 I had the same issues. The auto store alternators just did not last at all. I finally got an alternator from PowerMaster and it lasted forever. But last time I checked, they did not make one for the C6.
There is a forum vendor that has some real nice alternator alternatives. I don't have any experience with his, but I would ask. Look for member BLOWNBLUEZ06@RKT56 posts and ask. I would buy one of his if mine were to go.
I just don't see the issue with the stock alternator then everyone who has it Procharged and with fuel pumps etc would have the same issue i think it's just one of those insanely weird problems if anybody has any idea besides getting a new alt lmk
Check all ground connections on the Alt. It's highly unlikely you got three bad Alts., its possible but not probable. If all the ground connections are good then check the ground circuit resistance with an ohmmeter. (engine block to neg battery cable ) and (Alt mounting bracket to neg battery cable) That should give you a step in the right direction. Unless you have three bad Alts., something is telling your regulator to put out 18 Volts, usually its ground related. Good luck
