Default Driver door passive entry not working, ideas?

Hey guys,

Earlier this summer, I purchased a 2006 C6 Z06 - all is well, except the passive entry on the driver side is not functioning.

For the sake of bringing everyone up to speed:
  • passenger door responds properly
  • driver door opens if PKE is activated from passenger side
  • driver door opens and locks using remote buttons
  • passive lock (as you walk away) works properly
  • have tried "driver" and "both" settings for unlock in settings

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for me to look into with regard to this?

I've tried searching and have found a couple other threads with seemingly the same issue, but no definite resolution - one person stated a new battery alleviated the problem, while yet another said "the problem just went away one day"

before replacing a battery - I'm just curious if anyone has some additional ideas to throw out there!

Thanks all!

The battery is the easiest option available.

Sounds like the driver side fob antenna is possibly not working.

The driver side fob antenna is behind the rear fender near the gas filler door.

Could the problem be related to the door pad, I had to replace both of mine at different times.

I'm guessing his door pads are OK base on the things I highlighted in red above.

I had the same problem with my car ... and it was due to a bad fob antenna.

But:

check the door pads first .... because it's a lot easier than replacing a fob antenna

Thanks for the great input, I appreciate it!

I'll try disconnecting the battery and letting it sit - perhaps just get a new one if it's an original.

V8rx7com - How difficult was replacing the fob antenna?

Thanks!

I have a similar issue with my car. I've tried swapping the door pads with no effect. The battery in the car and fob is fine. PKE will work fine if the car has been unlocked or locked in the past, say, 5 minutes? passenger side works fine.

I've just gotten used to reaching into my pocket and hitting the unlock button on my way out to the car.

I haven't had the time or the desire to take my car apart to troubleshoot, but if anyone has a solution that has worked for them I would be glad to hear it!
