Default 05 automatic transmission

I've got this 05 coupe with a 4 speed automatic, 28k miles I'm the 2 nod owner. No problem with the trans but I have changed all the fluids so far due to age. There is little info on a filter/fluid change I've done ATF change on many other gm products but never something with a trans set up in the back? Any advice. btw dealer wants 499.95 to flush and change filter

If it's working fine, leave it alone. The GM recommended fluid/filter change is 50,000 miles under "Severe Service", 100,000 miles under "Normal Service".

If you're intent on doing something, then just drop the pan and change the filter. Drive it 500 - 1000 miles then change the fluid again. That way you get most of the old stuff that was in the torque converter.

HIGHLY discourage doing a flush. Lots of horror stories of problems after flushing. Of course there are many varying opinions on both sides. Here are a couple discussions of flushing if you're interested:

$499!!! Dealer did mine last month for $199 which I still thought was too much.
I was worried about the flush too. It's been several hundred miles and so far so good and I can tell it shifts quicker or maybe its all in my head.

You better ask what else they are doing for $499, really kinda high, since they connect machine that sucks out the old, and service with fresh fluid. I had mine done for less two hundred, check another dealer.
