Don't want to scare you but you need to take this as a potentially serious safety problem.

Since we don't know anything about your car and we don't know what you know about your car's history, I suggest you acquaint yourself with these 2 discussions (from the Stickies at the top of this Forum) then go to your dealer and get a history printout on your car to find out what has or has not been done. Then you can make informed inquiries, ask questions here and make appropriate decisions.

No way to know. Problems can be solved by anything from a simple wiring fix to replacement of a high cost part.

Get the codes read by somebody who has a scanner that can read ABS codes and report them back here. The Service Message is displayed when there is a code affecting that particular function. It sounds like you have a solid message that doesn't come and go. AH is totally inactive until the message disappears so you don't have to worry about a safety issue while it is displayed other than not having AH.

Failures with the steering sensor can cause AH to shut down while keeping ABS and TC active. I do this when I take my car to the track. I pull the connector to the steering sensor so the system can't use AH to slow my car to 55 mph when I use tires without tire pressure sensors.

Without OBD codes, its all a WAG, Had that DIC msg on my Escalade, checked code and it reported Throttle Position Indicator. Got an AC Delco replacement from Amazon and it was just a half hour job I did in my driveway. But you need the codes. Buy a reader from AZ. They aren't expensive.
