Default LS9 or LS7 cam swap???

Has anyone done this to their LS3? I am looking to get a bump in power but still need to pass smog/emissions. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated?

...LS9 was done on the Camaro forum= 13 rwhp..LS7 would be about the same. You probably could get about 10-12 rwhp from the SLP 1.85 rocker arms instead of changing/doing the cam but would need to change the valve springs.

Too much work for minimal return. If you have to have a cam, then go custom. With a custom you can have the cake and eat it too.

Btw, you have to change the cam sprocket too since both are 3 bolt type unlike the 1 bolt in the ls3.

Not even worth the hassle and cost for minimal gains! Go with a custom grind, get 40HP, maybe get the heads ported and polished while you're at it and get another 15-20 HP. Be sure to do the dual rocker springs while your swapping out the cam.

if you are going to do the LS9 cam I would look into GMPP 19300535..probably not 40 RWHP but with a tune 30 seems possible. I have been looking at this "combo" also.

The GM Hot Cam is rated at 480+ flywheel HP...........a substantial gain, on the LS3, with just a drop in and retune.

My thoughts are "GO BIG or GO HOME". It's not worth the time and logistics.

That combo is an LS7 cam with CNC ported LS3 heads. For all of that, you get a whoppin' 40 hp increase? Get in touch with Pat G and get him to spec you a cam that will pass emissions. He's done a jillion of them.
