Hello,
I am building a 1967 C10 Chevy truck with a C5/C6 drivetrain and suspension and have lots of question...
Can anyone help me with wiring and compatibility questions, please. I need to know if the ECM and BCM have to be from the same C6 Corvette? Can any 2007 C6 ECM talk to any 2007 C6 BCM or would it require reprogramming? I am having to buy parts and pieces as they come available for my truck build and I confess...I know very little when it comes to these items talking to one another.
Will a C6 ECM control a C5 ECBM??? I have a good 2003 Z06 ECBM and hate to buy a C6 if they will interchange. I know part numbers are different, but does the computer care??? What about Yaw and lateral sensors...can they be either C5 or C6?
I would like to run a C6 dash cluster, but I am not sure I can make it look good in the truck cluster cavity. I can fit a 2004 Escalade/Silverado there...but will the C6 ECM control it?
Lots of other questions along the same lines...anyone good at this stuff or know someone who would be willing to help???
Thanks!
Jimmy

They don't have to be from the same car, but you should really keep them the same year. For a while there it seemed like GM was changing electronics every year
I'm doing something similar with my Superlite Coupe. I run a C6 gauge cluster, ecm and bcm. Everything must match as in "same year". The parts don't have to be from the same car. They do need to have a security relearn done though. This must be done with a Tech 2 from the dealer. You cannot use any C5 parts with a C6. A c6 cluster must used with a c6 ecm and c6 bcm of the same year. A security relearn would not need to be done if the ecm and bcm were taken from the same car. You would also need the RCDLR (remote control door lock receiver). This controls the push button start for security.
You must also purchase a complete interior wiring harness in order to get this combination up and running. This is not for a novice to try though. Hopefully you are somewhat skilled with reading schematics and altering harnesses.
Thank you, Ken! Love the Superlite...you going to drive that on the streets!!! I was unaware of the RCDLR, but maybe I can pickup one from the car that I got the complete harness, ECM and BCM from. I have the key and start switch, already. I am not worried about the wiring issues...that I can handle...it is just what talks to what and how it talks, that I do not have a handle on!
Yes....the Superlite is mainly for street driving. The RCDLR is absolutely necessary if you are planning to use the keyless start feature. If you are going to use the interior wiring then I would also recommend using the hazard switch and dimmer switch. I even used the brake pedal sensor, and two clutch switches (one for cruise disengage and the other for engine start).
Awesome ride Ken...reminds me of the Ford GT40. Is that what it is modeled after? All C6 suspension?
I plan on using as much of the C6 wiring as possible. Do I need anything else to make it crank, other than the RCDLR? I have 2 of the antennas...is that enough or must I have all 4? Any way to power the harness ahead of time to see if everything is working??? Is that stupid sounding...but it is a lot easier to work on outside of the truck.
Thanks again for the help!
