Default Purchasing a previously modified Vette

Hello Guys, Have you guys purchased a used vette with modifications already done to it? My recent purchase '08 procharged corvette has everything pretty much done for me but I am unsure of what is all done to it. Dealer obviously will not release previous owner information and the number on old invoices are no longer in service, so for those who has faced this...what do you do? It is very important to know what is on your car and I know it has the following: Boost-a-pump, aem meth kit, d1 procharger (4.25" pulley currently on) long tube headers (unsure of size) exhaust, and upgraded fuel rails but that is all I know and the dealership didn't know specifics either. I've yet to have it up on a lift so I am sure that will impart more information. So what do you guys think I should do? I would hate to pay a mechanic to pick my car apart just to play guessing game but what if he has upgraded internals etc?

Ask the dealer to give the previous owner your contact info so you can get more info on the car. I had to do that once to a car I bought, and it worked out fine.

Have a good tuner dial everything in and drive it, while you hunt down information.

I'd say all the responses above make sense to me. What I don't quite understand is you got the car before being able to check out this info and know what was really on/in the car. Now, it's going to most likely cost you to find out. Was it really that good of a deal? I'm just asking, not criticizing.

7500 miles, D1 procharger, headers, new clutch, boost a pump.....tons of mods done to it...in perfect condition....I just wanted to know if anything has been done to the motor...no big deal and yes I am wanting to know this after the purchase but if the info isn't available I highly doubt any dealership would crack up the motor to check and see lol....but it was a great deal IMO $42,500....has around 10-15k worth of modifications.

Can you post some pictures of it, including the engine bay?

I'd say you're correct, no dealership will open up the motor to find out what's been modified, not even on an externally-visible modified engine which yours is. In which case, you might have been able to find out info before the purchase by doing what was suggested by davidf59. The dealer, if the car is relatively local, might have been willing to do the call to the prior owner and his then calling you if he was inclined to do so. But I'd say that most dealers wouldn't do or go that far on any modified car. jmo, but I seriously doubt it.

Short of getting that info fr. the dealer, as I mentioned before your choice then is to do what Gaskill wrote. Good luck.

Title search via the state Dept of Motor Vehicles (or revenue or licensing) may turn up the prior owners name and address
