'05 C6 FOB - Help!!
1. After driving the car for the day, I parked as normal and shut the car off. I then realized i need to move it a bit, so I tried to unlock the doors with the fob and it didn't work.
2. Thinking I needed to change the batteries, I did, for both fobs (without actually reading how to properly do it).
3. This of course didn't work. I attempted to reprogram - but that didn't work.
4. The car sat for a couple weeks after that.
5. I had it towed to the local chevy dealer. While troubleshooting the fob issue, they said the battery was dead and wouldn't charge, and that they were unable to reprogram either Fob (they must have had some type of power to the vehicle)
Question's are:
Is is possible that both fob's failed at the same time?
(I'm thinking not).
Would the car need to be on a 'real' battery to program the fobs? I'm assuming they had the car on some type of charging system while they attempted to reprogram.
Thank you so much for the help!

Or, the RCDLR failed/stayed full power on with the car shut off, which drained the battery instead when it did not go into sleep mode, and again, why the Fobs where not working.
Since the car battery will not take a charge, that needs to be replaced, and as for the RCDLR, have them first try to reflash it for the TSB software update, and if that does not fix it, then you may need a new RCDLR if it completely failed.
As for the RCDLR , it's located just above the radio/dash vents behind the center bezel, and its the receiver for both the Fobs, and the TPMS sensors. The 2005 had a programing problem with RCDLR (would not go into low power/sleep mode when you suit the car off), and GM came out with TSB update reprogramming for it to make sure that it would go into sleep/low power mode when you shut the car off so it would not drain the battery.
The car was in reverse when i left it parked. It was maybe 1 minute from the time I shut it off and the time I attempted to use the Fob to open the car up. So, I am thinking it is perhaps the sensing or RCDLR unit.
I am going to speak to them today, after I get a new battery, and see what they think... I will keep you updated!
Thanks again for the assistance.

To be blunt, buy a Ctek 3300, and if are not driving the car for a few days or more, plug the Ctek 3000 into the car to bring the battery up to a full charge and keep it there. As for how you plug the 3300 in, the cigarette lighter plug works fine with the unit on the carpet, but I use a connector to the battery directly since my Vet may sit for months at a time un-driven instead (Ctek bolted to the wall, with a long lead to connect to the battery terminal adapter).
