Currently have completely stock drivetrain (tr6060)
I've been running 675/564 for about 6 months and I'm adding meth and adding 2psi of boost (10psi) this week, should be in the 750 range.
Drivetrain is my next big build, I have an RXT clutch, billet flywheel and trans/diff brace just none of it is on the car yet. I'm having issues with the reverse in my car, it locks up when my car is under any kind of stress. I'm saving for an RPM lvl 6 tr6060 and lvl 3 diff, which I should be ready to go in, in a few months. Is that overkill? Am I going in the right direction?
Contact Race Proven Motorsport. They are selling a Lvl 6 TR6060 trans right now that was in a customers car for like 100 miles before he switched to a Powerglide. They have an awesome deal on it, and they are an awesome shop to deal with.
It looks like your avatar is a base model. You will need to consider which output shaft you will go with on the trans (27 or 30 spline). This will dictate the diff gear setup. You can also consider upgrading your diff case to a Z06 or ZR1.

I know that I'd have to get a Z diff with a Z trans, I have a trans brace ready to go on, if the clutch trans, and diff will be rated at 1kwhp the Z case won't make much if any difference. Plus going with Z parts will be much more costly.
Just a possibility, but it could be the clutch causing your issue. I know when I had a clutch failure due to a warping the of discs that reverse was nearly impossible to get into, with 5th & 6th being more stiff as well. The car was still drivable, and even ran a 10.9 in that condition , but the clutch was the culprit of my problem.
As far as the other mods....seems like a lot of coin to spend for marginal (if any) benefit over stock components, at least on the street. There are many cars in the 9's with stock rear/tranny, and the strip is where the most stress is placed on those components.
If it were me, I would throw the RXT in it and examine the stock clutch before sending the tranny off to rpm. If everything looks fine in the clutch (aside from normal wear), then it may be necessary for a tranny rebuild. At that point, its personal discretion on what stage to go with; I would just keep in mind what has been proven capable with the stock components.

There is no difference in the price on the trans. The only difference between the base and Z is the output shaft. The base is 27 spline and the Z/GS is 30 spline. The output shaft type will determine which ring and pinion gears you get. I am not able to find the picture rpm transmissions had showing all three diff cases. The base to the ZR1 diff case. You get more structure ribs on the diff case. There is nothing wrong in going overkill on the drivetrain. I am just trying to provide some information.
