What kind of finish does a base model 2012 Vette have on it's calipers? It looks like just a bare casting too me, and I am assuming they are aluminium?
The calipers on the Vette are starting to show some discolouration now. Even after detailing them with cleaner, they don't look as good as new anymore. Is there anything you can do to keep the claipers looking good?
Or is powder coating the only option? Will powder coating the calipers void the warranty if there is any issues down the road?
I would suggest painting them...even if you don't want a big change, you could do them in black. The brackets are cast iron and calipers are aluminum. Easy to do, the paint is at any auto parts store.
I have never heard of paint or powder coat being a warranty issue and these are very common mods here on the forum.
We've done powdercoat as well as paint for countless customers. Paint is a great option without the hassle of completely disassembling the caliper like you need to for powder and you can reapply stickers and clear coat over them for a custom factory type look. You would just need to be careful with brake cleaner on either option to save the finish.
My worry is that if the caliper has to be disassembled to be powder coated, and the caliper fails, then GM may not cover it since it was disassembled. Plus, I don't really want to have basically brand new calipers disassembled.
I am thinking maybe paint will be the best option for now. They are still clean and corrosion free, so I am sure I could do a decent job. What is top quality caliper paint?
When you say OEM paint, do you mean just standard automotive paint? Or is there an OEM caliper paint that GM used? I though you needed high temperature paint.

Unless you are tracking the car, calipers don't get hot enough to require special paint. Any spray can paint will work.
Clean, mask the area, and spray.
Touchup if necessary,is just as simple.
Over 100K with rattle can painted calipers and a couple touchups on mine.
Thanks for the advice! Painting sounds like a good option.
I also found this set of new calipers. It says its for C5 or C6 base models and it is four new calipers. Would this work for my car (2012 Base C6)? Are these calipers the same as my stock calipers or will they be an upgrade?
They should be the same as equipped only painted red.
A can of caliper paint would be much cheaper and easier to do. Easy enough to remove caliper/pack out the center and mask them accordingly. Cleaning/prep prior to painting is likely the hardest or rather the most laborious part.
