Default Clutch replacement...bad clutch.

Well I was doing some spirit driving and I think my clutch has crapped the bed. long story short, I took off from the light and the car made a lot of rumble but no go (well very slow go). The clutch peddle stuck to the floor and it smelt like really bad clutch.... burnt smell. The peddle finally came up and felt very soft. So I pulled over and shut it down and waited 5 minutes and it seems to cured it but the smell was there. The peddle did pop but it just doesn't seem to grab like it was in 1-3 when ripping through it. normal driving it seems okay to marginal just not under load. The fluid is nice and clear amber color and I have the ranger method a dozen times prior to get it clear.

It is an oem clutch I assume, I bought the car in Feb this year. Its an 05 and then I got the mod bug so long story short is she putting down 500 rwhp + and 460 rwtq+ N/A. I drive it mainly on the street on the weekends and 2 track days since I got the mods done. What clutch do you guys recommend and estimate labor for it. I no there are a million post but I am looking for a quicker response rather then searching.

Time for a new clutch you probably burnt it out a little, if its not leaking any fluid then you prob need a new clutch....

Don't get to anxious to change it. Drive it some more. When you burn the clutch the smell can stick around for quite a while. You can do some checks to see if it is slipping or not. I did one autocross with my 97 C5 where the clutch slipped badly for the first 3 launches. The next 3 it worked fine and it was still working fine when I sold the car 2 years later. On top of that the clutch tended to get burned a little at times when I was loading the car on the trailer. I just burned my 08Z clutch getting up on the trailer this last Sunday. It has been abused quite often with many trailer loadings, two people learning how to drive a manual transmission, many autocross launches with sticky tires and almost 7 years old is still holding strong.
