2007 airbag light
Hey guys. I have researched this but haven't found a solution. My buddy hydroplaned in a 2007 and glanced off a small tree. In the accident the pretensioner was discharged on the passenger side even though there was no passenger. I replaced the pretensioner but the airbag light is still on. My scanner shows no codes. He doesn't want to file an insurance claim. Any suggestions on getting the light to go out and the system functioning?

I'm sure you disconnected the battery while completing the work. I would disconnect it and see if that takes care of the light. If not you may have to take it to the dealer and have them turn it off with their Tech 11 scanner.

Yes I disconnected the battery doing the work. Guess he may have to take a trip to the dealer.

If there is a deployment the SDM should be replaced and the new SDM part number set up in the BCM. I have only done repair work that did not involve deployment. But, the service information indicates that the SDM is not reusable following a deployment. This work does not have to be down by the dealer. But will require programming capabilities and a Tech2 or Tech2Win to finish the setup.
