Default Stereo steering wheel interface help

I finished installing a full aftermarket stereo system in my 09 with a Pioneer AVIC 5000NEX deck, Kicker 5-channel amp, Kicker RT-8" subs in the doors with Polk Audio 3.5" & Infinity Kappa 5.25". I purchased the PAC Audio SWI-RC steering wheel interface and installed and wired it according to the fifteen million pages of paperwork. I have it plugged into the S/W port in the back of the deck using the mini-stereo jack. The light is working on the unit and I have programmed it to the right setting. However, none of the steering wheel controls work. Has anyone set this interface up before? What could I be doing wrong?

I would double check that you are plugged into the right mini-stereo jack input on the rear of the head unit..... I think there is 3 mini-stereo jack inputs on the back of that head-unit ...... it's not hard to accidently plug into the wrong port by mistake.
