On my 2013 C6 the headlights look perfect when they are off but as soon as they come on there is fog/condensation where every light is and on the edges of the condensation it looks burned, like a brown ring around it. Turn them off and you see nothing. I know I can take it in under warranty but was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how was it resolved. I appreciate any info.
I've heard of "fogging" on the inside but not brown rings, etc. While yours is under warranty, Gary, I'd urge the other, HK, to go into the dealer asap even if it's out of 3/36 warranty. They may do a courtesy switch because otherwise it may not be inexpensive. There is, however, a solution from a vendor on here named "RLSebring." Look him up via search.
Took my car in today, they said its not a warranty issue, fog is due to climate change from Illinois where I bought it to North Dakota. The brown ring is due to too much washing and a prism effect, where when the lights are on it hits tiny scratches in the lens and produces the brown color. I think its BS but what do I do now, the dealership won’t repair under warranty.
Sounds like BS to me.. Fog is from condensation entering the lights from the rear.. they are not airtight. Brown ring.. I have no idea, but it's not normal. I would contact GM Rep on the forum and see if they can be your advocate... If I had this sh_t on a 2013 car, I'd be stomping up and down for brand new headlights... don't give up cause the dealer is a tool.
IF the dealership explanation is accurate (possible as headlights can be degraded just like paint due to washing techniques) they could also be corrected with some elbow grease and 30ish $$. Walmart etc sells headlight restore kits. If you don't want to attempt yourself many body shops can wetsand/buff headlights to clean up as well.
Sounds like BS to me too. Doesn't matter where you bought the car, warranty is still good. I'd call GM before doing any aftermarket fixes to the lens. Good Luck!
