Hey guys as some of you may know that have been following my build posts my engine is being built my Late Model Engines. I am going with the bigger forged crank, Bryan said it raises displacement from 365cu to 402cu (I'm using the new style 6.0 iron block). He says he recommends the 402 ls2 setup for boosted applications. What do you guys think??I don't know much about a bigger stroke (no homo)...what can I expect, how much power gain, does it change the sound any? What will be different versus a short stroke?
Interested as well. ...most stroker motors do seem to sound different than shorter stroked motors....deeper, thumpier sounding. Not sure if that is simply due/related to compression ratio?
I went from an LS2 with an LS3 top and cam. When I upgraded the to a 416" stroker using the same top end and cam, I picked up 1HP per cubic inch.
so you picked up about 40 horsepower? other than the power gain what else did you notice with the cam and longer stroke...was it a deeper slower lpoey sound or anything?

I think he picked up closer to 50hp. A stroker is more known for the increase in torque. I am still learning about the ls engine. I can not comment as far as the sound difference.
I don't know the cylinder wall thickness for the LS2 and LS3 engine blocks, but if they are the same, then the LS2 will have lower stress in the wall compared to the LS3 for the same cylinder pressure due to the smaller diameter. However, if you are going with a LSX iron block I think the cylinder walls are much thicker and stronger.
