Engine covers
By design do they cause excessive heat around the intake manifold? Is their a performance advantage to removing them? If they do retain heat does it deteriorate wiring overtime?

Living in a hot climate I like to get rid of all the heat possible. Not too worried about looks under the hood. (And to real gearheads nothing beats the look of a "naked" motor!) Has anyone done any real research on the covers heat retention? Seems like they would keep a lot of heat on those ignition modules.......

Tim, you changed your alternator power plug! Nice Red! Very Ying/Yang matched to your battery Red!!

Heat is the enemy!
Or.....make some stuffs yourself, modified selected stock parts and show your wife - on how much money saved!
Joking aside, imo, among other areas, if coil relocation bracket is connected to the valve cover, metallically, lots of heat still goes to the coils and components connected, thru direct heat conduction.
Among many others, three components - isolation, distance and shielding are important key factors associated with heat management.
