Default Harmonic Balancer Issue

Guys, I have an 07 with 24K on it, and I have the slightest wobble on the harmonic balancer. It runs great but with all the horror stories on here about LS2 HB issues, I was worried. Should I wait to see if it gets worse, or have someone look at it, before it does? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Most of them have a slight wobble. Do a search and you will see some videos of normal wobble. Mine has been wobbling for nine + years and no problems.

We presume you're out of warranty, so anything you do will be on your dime.

Most of the HBs do wobble a bit, ours does but has not noticeably changed in the last 77k miles.

There is a GM bulletin that calls for measuring the runout in the pulley grove, the other faces are not manufactured precisely enough to count. It would probably take a shop something around an hour to find and do the bulletin.

You might do what we have done- compare your car to a few others, if it doesn't look bad and isn't making unusual noises, just keep an eye on it. You want to look at the pulley from the side as much as possible, that's the wobble that matters.

The C5/C6 HBs have been a problem, but many owners never need to replace theirs, which can cost somewhere like $500-$1,000.

Best of luck to you.

EDIT:

The way they are manufactured makes most of them look like they have a little wobble when in fact the part that matters, the pulley grooves, runs true. My go/no go test is to look at the belt. If it moves the belt and changes the way the belt tracks at the pulley I recommend replacement. If the pulley looks wobbly but the belt doesn't get moved around it's fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I have not had any of the chirping that is associated with it and my local tech, is going to look at it when I take it in for a tuneup. This guy has his own dyno and is recognized as the "go to guy" for this area. He pretty much told me the same thing, that they all have a slight wobble and that C5's are more of a problem. However, he will take a look. Appreciate the responses.
