Default New shock options?

My factory magna-ride shocks are gone on my 2005 C6 - time to replace. I use the car for road tracks only - I don't drive the car on the street, in fact I'll probably take the tags off when insurance comes due.

Option 1 - replace with factory shocks - I'm told I can find them for about half price - I might spend $3500 installed with some misc. parts.

Option 2 - go with a Penske race type shock and by-pass the magna ride - total cost around $3500 again.

Option 3 - go with a track type Koni or Bilstein shock (non-adjustable) shock - $150/200 each.

None of the options sound appealing to me. Is there something in the middle? Adjustable in the $400 a corner range that anyone here has used for or seen on the track? (road track, no drag racing)

Why is option 3 not appealing to you? The shocks you name are good shocks and the cost isn't excessive although you will have to have the ride control module tuned out so you don't keep getting error codes. Most of us track our cars with just the normal HD suspensions that GM provided with no adjustable shocks and get along quite well. If you wanted to you could change the springs and sways to basically upgrade to something more than the basic suspension and get better handling.

For track only, pull the F55 system (will need a tech II to program it out), then coil over set up all four corners that is fully adjustable, including the shock settings.

Shocks that are not adjustable my get you close, but not close enough for hard track use when you need to dial the car in for different tracks.

If you want to be fast on the track, you need to get something that is adjustable, and get rid of the pickup truck springs.

Coilovers are definitely the way to go. RideTech and LG have nice coilovers and for a great price too. They are a much better setup than even the factory adjustable shocks.

We carry the RideTechs and LGs (at a better price even)
