I have a friend's car that is and 08,and the 6l80 went out so he bought another 6l80 which is a 2011,well drive in default mode and I figured out that the tci is diff because we tried to get it flashed with the tech 2 and no communication. ..my ? Is ,can I just swap the old tcm from the 08 in this new trans and be fine ..or can I re pin the harness ,because on the schematics I think a positive wire is just in different places..I'm not sure....6l80 guys help me plzzz!!!!
I don't see why you couldn't just put the old one in because I done something like that and it worked fine. I have an 06 and upgraded to an 08 since, it hooked up fine and was easy enough.
The '06 - '09 are interchangeable but '10, '11 and '12 are all individually different. AFAIK there is more to it than just different controllers, like you said, compatible communications.
Here's an older response from Chuck CoW:

2010, 2011, and 2012 are each different and while there might be some similarities, for now
the safe bet is to treat the later years independently and NOT try to cross mingle software
between 2010 and 2012. I'll look into it for you guys....
Even if you can just install a 2012 TCM into your 2009 Corvette, there is NO GUARANTEE
that it will work like it does in a 2012 cause there are tables and message sets
in the engine controller that permit the trans to do what it does...
MY BEST ADVICE....
Unless you have LOTS of money to spend...DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.
