I have a 2013 427 convertible. When I activate the heater I detect a smell almost like something burning. I purchased the car new in June 2013 and associated the smell to the car being new so I have ignored it. 18 months. and 4,500 miles later I still get the smell. Any ideas what it may be and does anyone else experience it?
Is the smell like antifreeze, mold or electrical? Either way I would take it to the dealer immediately since you seem to be able to make it happen on demand, your warranty is still good and let Mr. GM fix it.

It smells like electrical. I cannot make it happen all the time which is why I hesitated to take it to the dealer. It's not real strong. Just thought someone else may have experienced it but it doesn't appear to be the case so I'll have to bring it in. Thanks for the response.
Granted, it's 30 miles, but you are really lucky. One of the best dealers w. Corvette savvy techs is located in Rio Vista, Abel Chev. Hopefully nothing will burn up by your driving there. "RichieRichZ06" is on here and works as one of the parts mgrs. there. Give him a shout.
Could it be an oil smell? Lots of threads on CF about the smell of oil in the cabin, usually right after an oil change but sometimes weeks or months after. Anecdotal comments seem to refute the theory that it's a result of spilled oil on the header or the engine or a result of an overfill condition. Had it happen both times the oil was changed in my '13 GS. Not strong enough to complain or worry about for me.

After more attention it seems to smell more like a burning oil but it's hard to distinguish what type of oil. Its really weird. I've changed the oil only twice and didnt notice any difference in the degree of smell. Plus, the car smelled when the car was new, before i did the first oil change. Its one of those things, when I bring it in to the dealer, it won't smell and the service writer will look at me strangly. But since it has not gone away in 18 months, I need to bring it in.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
