Default HUD questions...please help.

I have a 2007 coupe with no HUD. However, where it would go there is a panel that would be removed to be able to install one. My question is the windshield. Will I have to install a brand new windshield along with the HUD unit ? I have asked different dealerships with a variety of yes and no answers. With the price of $1200 for the windshield along with the HUD really adds up. I just want to do it right. Any help would be appreciate.

No. Many members install the HUD with the original windshield. It may not be the same but it's adequate.

My 06 had the same panel installed. I bought the correct HUD closeout panel and then installed the HUD without replacing the windshield. Display looks awesome. As far the windshield, I have seen cars with factory HUD and a few modded cars; I can't tell the difference. I am no expert by any means just my 2 cents.

You do not need the "proper" windshield. The HUD retrofitted into my '07 is plenty clear with the standard windshield.

Nope, your current windshield will work just fine.
