Default Stepped Headers

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of headers for my 2012 M6 GS and was looking for some input on stepped headers. The set I am interested is one that starts out with 1 7/8 tubes that then step up to a 2" tube merging into a 3" collector leading to a 3" X pipe.
It's my understanding that the change in tube size creates a scavenging effect which results in better performance. Input from forum members and vendors is welcome and appreciated ... thank you in advance.

I went w/Kooks 1 7/8" LT's & the Catted X-pipe & gained 38 hp @ the wheels & a pretty significant mid/upper range torque increase. I also added a Haltech SuperBee CAI. It's a 2008 w/a Manual transmission. (I don't have it any more) It might be even more w/a Grand Sport... I ordered them from (http://marylandspeed.com/kooks-1-78-...ex-p-1799.html) They have the best price I've seen. If you enter the coupon code 'freecoatkooks' they will get them Ceramic coated for you before you get them for free. Plus free shipping.
