Ported FAST 102 Recommendations?
Does anyone have any recommendations, based on recent first hand experience/results, for a place to order a ported FAST for a bolt on LS2 car? I'm just curious who the current go-to guy in the community is...thanks!
Read this comparison on intake manifolds----basically it shows that there is very little HP gains on any aftermarket intake unless you plan to run it above 6600 RPM's--Like less than 10---To me the price of a 102/102 set up is NOT worth the $1500 on a daily driver running normally under 6600--You would see more HP and TQ below 6600 with a cam change---Your stock intake is fine for a stockish engine--unless you have $1500 to just throw around for 10 RWHP--- Even a mild cam can improve HP throughout the entire RPM range by at least 35-40 RWP---for about the same cost !!!
It all depend on your car's intended use or future planned mods--- With a larger cam you may see 25-30 RWHP with a Fast intake---but again only in the higher RPM ranges

What airflow credentials does the guy wielding the grinder on your intake really have....how much airflow/flowbench experience does he have....has he tested his design on the dyno.....etc, etc. As a guy that designs cylinder heads and manifolds for his living, properly porting a FAST intake is a natural extension of what I do.
Im a little more than most typically but like most things in life you get what you pay for. I have seen alot of "ported" intakes that people send to me to fix.....most I send back because its just as important to leave material in the right places as it is to remove it. I have seen some scary work out there and so have a few of you. Your paying me for my expertise, R&D invested, and a time consuming artful execution of the job. I've never had a customer disappointed in my work or the results.
This is a good read for those who haven't seen this thread before....

I know you guys have choices....if your looking for a really optimal set-up and have a few extra bucks to spend I promise I wont disappoint you.
Feel free to PM me or email me for more details or if you have additional questions.
Cheers,
Tony

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Tony and I go way back and I will say that he does have the most experience with porting of just about anything. I have ported quite a few also with great results. I just posted some numbers of a LS7 combo with a ported FAST on it. Unfortunately I don't have just manifold pre and post numbers. But I do for other manifolds like the stock LS7, LS3, LS2, and TBSS intake manifolds and TB results that have been posted on here. We will be very shortly putting all of these manifolds on the flow bench and dyno to publish more results than we already have. What I can tell you is that BER intake manifolds and ported TB's make power. Katech has proven that our LS3 intake manifolds make within 1/1 hp/tq of a stock FAST 102 on their engine dyno. TPIS has also done testing on our manifolds that will be posted shortly. I also do heads that have made excellent flow numbers and power. Have I been doing this for 20 years every day, no, but do I have contact and guidance from the best in the business, yes.
There is a saying I really like. The student that does not surpass the teacher has failed. He has the advantage of learning the life time of knowledge from the teacher in a short time and the rest of his time to develop his own.
You can't go wrong with Tony and no one can argue with that, he has been a mentor of mine since the 90's but for the price you pay and the gains you make with BER ported intakes and TB's you really can't go wrong.
