I have a 2011 Corvette that either the AC mode door actuator is bad or one of the dual ac mode actuators is bad. Everything works fine except one of the actuators is constantly clicking seeming to search for the correct position.
Can anyone tell me if these actuators can be replaced without removing the entire dash? I can't find any instructions where someone has replaced these in a C6. I found plenty of info for a C5. Any help would be appreciated.
PS: I don't have the shop manuals but if I have to buy them, I will.
has the car had a dead battery ? Try to recalibrate the doors before pulling the dash.
I finally got around to verifying my issue. It is the mode door actuator making the noise. The important thing to know is that you do not have to pull the dash in order to replace the actuator. If you remove the glove box and the plastic trim piece that surrounds the glove box, you can get to the actuator. There are two 5.5mm hex head bolts that hold it in place. There is an aluminum panel next to the glove box that has a cutout that provides some access. The worst thing that you might have to do is drill a hole in the aluminum panel so that you can use a 1/4" socket and extension. I called two GM dealers which both had the actuator but one wanted $55 and the other wanted $62. I bought the same exact GM part on Amazon for $29 including shipping. There were places that sold the Dorman part but I stuck with the OEM. Why I don't know because the OEM only lasted 11k miles!
