Just got my car and want to start modding right away. My ultimate goal is to put on a S/C kit, either ECS or A&A. I am going to start with a CAI, Axle Back Exhaust, then to 1 7/8" Headers with Off-Road X-Pipe and a good Tune. My questions are, what is the best Cold Air Intake? I know lots of people go with Vararam and Halltech. How is Lingenfelter and Top Flight Production's new Ram Air Intake? Are they all pretty much the same, just personal preference? I see that most involve cutting the radiator shroud and my concern is, eventually I will sell the CAI when the S/C goes in but will the altered radiator shroud present a problem down the line for the S/C install? I wanted to some these bolt on mods first as it might be next summer when I am able to S/C. TIA!
When you order a CAI, make sure its a true CAI. That is to say, make sure it pulls in colder air from outside the engine bay. Many of the so-called CAI's out there are just glorified air filters and are a waste of money on our C6's.

When I first bought my car the owner put on the K & N kit, probably because it's a very popular name and easy to install kit. I pulled it out, sold it for $175 and bought my Vararam. It wasn't hard to install, but it wasn't easy either. However nothing for the price beats the gains, you do feel the power at higher speeds especially during cool 50-60 nights.

Just search for the toggle bolt mod for the LS2. Some have reported decent gains with not more than a few dollars in toggle bolts. If you're going with a S/C next year you'll be ditching the CAI anyway. The headers and catback you'll retain but you'll be getting retuned for the blower so try and use the same shop for the tuning.
