If 10.5 in the quarter is the goal heads/cam stock bottom end ls3 would get you there no problem. Im cam only ls3 a6. Stock heads and stock intake manifold and do a 10.7 and am still getting the shifts dialed in so it has more left in it. If 600whp is the more important goal Id vote 416ci.
Have you put an after market headers. .cat-back?

For what it's worth, my "Cam only" LS3 C6 went 11.00@128 with a 1.67 60. A good converter in an auto car pulling 1.4x 60s will easily put it into the 10.6-10.7 range.
With some creative weight reduction, gears, drag pack, E85 and some other things, an auto LS3 C6 should be able to see 10.5x.
