Default Is there a catted H- or X-pipe for stock headers?

Hi guys,

does anybody know if it's existing?

Reason why:
Z06 headers and cats, don't want to replace headers by LT.
Due to the 2-step there will be a lot of unburnt fuel in the cats.
So I'm looking for high-flow cats, but as far as I can see all of the universal ones are too big to be integrated in the pipe, that's the reason for looking for an aftermarket pipe.

Thanks guys!

There are no "stock" headers.

Z06 exhaust manifolds are tubular SS, C6 exhaust manifolds are cast iron. I don't understand what you want, you have cats with the Z06 manifolds. Why would you want another set of cats?

I thought the same ting, but if the guy wants an extra set of cats, the Billy Boat ones will bolt right up!

Probably describe what you currently have, then what you propose to mod, then the problem you assume you'll have, then the solution you suspect will resolve the problem.

How I read your question is that you have a LS2/LS3 that you want to put on Z06 exhaust manifolds, but think the cats will die due to unburnt fuel lighting off when you use the 2-step on a launch. Your solution is to find high flow cats located downstream in the H or X pipe.

The problem I see, is that you'll kill the cats either way, so going catless or without the 2-step is the only real choice. Tune out the rear sensors if you choose to go catless.

Either that ^^^ or I don't understand your post either.

Let me get this straight
Excuse me by confusing header and manifold

Setup now:
Z06 manifold, cats and h-pipe.
2-step rev limiter.

I suppose the Z06 cats are made of ceramic and also more restrictive than e.g. 100cpsi.
Due to the usage of the rev limiter, it will cut ignition so the fuel will probably ignite in the cat, which harms the ceramic cat.

My plan was to exchange the cat with a so called "high flow" cat, because if metal is used as a carrier it won't harm these cats that much, and due they are less restrictive they should free up a few hp.

Problem:
Can't replace the stock cats cause I cannot find anything the same lenght and dia or shorter.
Can't put cats in the h-pipe because not enough space.

Plan:
"Clean" the stock cats so that only the housing is left, buy an h- or x-pipe with cats that bolt on the stock setup.

Is it now understandable?

You have a couple of options. You can clean out your OEM cats and install aftermarket hi-flow cats (about $50 each) in your current H pipe. This will require cutting the existing H pipe and welding in the new cats. The advantage of this option is low expense and it will probably pass visual inspection.

The next option is as timd said, purchase aftermarket replacement cats and have your OEM cats cut out and the new ones welded in. These will be more expensive but place your cats in the OEM position next to the oil pan which helps in the quick warm up cat self test cycle.

Thanks guys!

Tim, I suppose the Magna Cat is a real "replacement", so as much restrictive and also ceramic as a carrier.

Vito, I can't find a cat small enough, the ones I found are all too big, stock location or h-pipe

They show ceramic ones separate. I would call them.

It appears the 2012-13 Z06 has an extra pair of cats in the X-pipe. I don't know much more than that, but it might be something to investigate.

Take a look at the small hi-flow cats used in aftermarket header applications. They all move the cats down into the X pipe. Should be able to find the cats on Summit Racing.
