You have several options. The most popular is the C5 Z06 17" front wheel with either 275/40-17 or 315/35-17 drag radial. Unlike many aftermarket wheels, the C5Z front wheel will clear your OEM brake calipers. Just a side note, some C5Z wheels were forged by Alcoa and are super strong.

Your OEM 285/35-19 rear tire is 26.9" dia, the 275/40 is 25.6" dia, and the 315/35 is 25.7". The slightly smaller dia will help lower your gearing and the increased sidewall will squat upon launch (lowering the gear ratio even more) and grow at high speed actually increasing gear ratio at the finish line.
The 315/35 is only needed in very high HP applications. I like the Hoosier 275/40 because it is several pounds lighter than the MT.

I see part of your quest is appearance, which makes me believe you're wanting to do this for the street and car shows. Assuming that's true, find a 17 x 9 repo wheel that will match your fronts. Stick with the MT tires, since the extra weight is due to the tread thickness and you'll get more mileage from them.
If you're wanting this purely for the dragstrip, get the C5 Z06 fronts and Hoosiers, because they're lighter and stick better. Then forget looks, because there are no bonus points on a timeslip for pretty.

Not to hijack, but question for you guys running the c5 zo6 rims and hoosiers. Do you drive these to the track or do you pop them on once you are there? I have about a 30-45 min drive to my track, so Im curious how those tires handle a highway cruise.

Might be a noob question, but I don't have any experience with Hoosiers. Many of us ran BFG DR's back when we went to track days, its been awhile

I've driven them a couple times 50 miles round trip, but usually if DR's only, I'd throw them in the hatch and change at the track.

Otherwise:

Default c5 drag wheels

I have original 5 spoke painted wheels and wanted 17" rear drag wheels that would not look out of place. I found this wheel at OE wheels and to me they match although they are black I plan on painting them to match the original. They are 17x9.5-offset 54 same as c5 Z front wheels. You could do this but they wont be polished.

David,

I think us GS guy's will need the C5 Z06 front wheels, to clear our rear calipers

Apologies for the hijack, but what about this wheel:

And this tire:

mounted on a GS??

Does anyone know if that wheel will clear the stock C6 Z06/GS rear brakes?

It's a 40 x 49 Harbor Freight trailer that I modded to fit my needs. It was around $160 with a 20% coupon and after tax. Fully loaded it's about 300# gross and 30# tongue weight.

I highly recommend it for taking 4 tires and tools to a nearby track to avoid wear and handling problems by using race tires on the street. Measure first to verify how your stuff will need to fit.

I've seen that exact combo being used, but don't know if it was used with stock Z06/GS brakes. You might ask on the Z06 forum. It's a bit of overkill for less than 550-600 rwhp and will cause slower ET's with lower HP cars.
