Default ARH Header/Exhaust question? 3" axle back?

I've got a 2005 LS2 Roadster, A4, stock (for now). I want to get a set of ARH 1 7/8" Headers and Catted X-Pipe. I found a used set but the x-pipe has a 3" inlet and a 3" outlet. What axle back exhaust would fit this setup? I just bought a set of B&B Bullets but the inlet is 2.5". Now I'm contemplating selling the bullets and getting something that fits. Any suggestions? Anyone tried this on a c6? Guess my question would be, what mufflers would fit without modding or would there have to be??

There are a few companies that make a 3.0" over axle pipe/muffler sets. A quick search and you'll find them. The other option is using a set of stock or modded z06 mufflers. Keep in mind the do reduce to 2.5" before they enter the mufflers.
It would be loud as hell with the bullets. That's why there are so many used sets listed for sale.

Does Z06 mufflers fit on a base 2005 C6 or do they need to be modded? I read that ZR1 mufflers would work with the 3" inlet however because my car is an auto, a muffler shop would have to modify the over axle pipes to make it fit correctly, is this true?

Look at the dyno graphs between 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" headers on a mild LS-2 engine.

The 1 7/8" headers will breath better at top RPM ranges, but you are giving up torque on the lower range instead with them.

With your motor, unless you going to heavy mods, or going to Supercharge instead, will be better off with the 1 3/4" headers. Your going to have about the same amount of HP at 6.2K when the motor red lines, and will have more torque in the lower RPM range with the 1 3/4" headers instead.

As for X pipe, what mufflers are you planning on running, since their pipe size will dictate then needed end of X pipe section.

P.s, Get the headers ceramic coated!!!!!! This will drop the engine bay temps so you are not melting parts in it, as well as not end up with you cooking/ killing the Bakelite end cap of the starter solenoid (still want to heat blanket the starter solenoid though).

Dano523, thanks for the advice! I am planning to go the S/C route sometime this summer so I will go with the 1 7/8". As for the outlet on the x-pipe, I would like to go 3" all the way. I'm just wondering what axle back has a 3" inlet? Worse case senario, I will just get a 3"in X 2.5" out X-Pipe and either use my B&B Bullets or the stock mufflers if the drone's too much to bear. I don't do much highway driving, about 95-98% of my driving is in town.

Does anyone know if ZR1 mufflers (with 3" inlet) would bolt right up on a 05 C6 roadster? Would it need any modifications to make it work or do they bolt right up? If anyone's done this please chime in. I really want to throw headers on and a 3" x-pipe.

Got my ARH in the box have an 05 Z51 M6 with an SC from last years project stock exhaust now going into 2.5" Borla's. My wrench is going to use a step down connector to marry them up in a couple weeks.

They will work fine, On the A6 you have to dent the pipes a little around the trans pan. You should be fine on the A4.

The 3" X-pipe bottlenecks down to 2.5" where it mates to the catback. Your B&B cb should work just fine.

If it bottlenecks, then it's pointless. I would go 3" straight back if I were going to mount an S/C. Presumably the Z06 NPP's have 3" inlets?

I thought the Z06 NPP's are also 2.5" inlets? I read only the ZR-1 mufflers are 3" inlets? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Apparently, you're right, and necking down from 3" to 2.5" isn't a problem either. It's the way it is on the Z.
