C6 Questions ??
Just purchased an 05 w/z51 LS2 6 speed MT with 56000 on the clock, now reading all about the computer issues has me concerned. After only 700 miles getting the SCL and AHS service messages, won't start at times unless I pull the neg batt terminal or cycle the ignition switch several times, can anyone clarify the fix procedure here? Sounds like the AHS issue can be dangerous, what exactly can I expect if this goes out? Brake lockup, steering lockup? I do tend to push the limits and want to know if there is potential for a catastrophic failure at speed here, can and should this system be shut down or repaired? What's the latest on the SCL message, still the COH bypass? How about the DBS issue on the 05 is there a (reflash) that would help this issue? Forgive the lack of knowledge on my part here, new owner, and member, used to more old school rides. Any information would be VERY helpful.

DBS - GM did issue a computer update. You still have to park in "R" to shut down the computer.
AH - Yes it can be dangerous. There have been some crashes reported here. GM came up with an add on "clip" to the SWPS connector in the steering column.
I suggest you go to any GM dealer and ask for a GMVIS printout on your car. It will list all warranty and maintenance work done on that car by GM.
SCL - Yea, most just do the COH bypass now.

Thanks for the info Rick, will try the bypass, and c if I can get the GM records on the car, tried thru the dealer that did most of the service work but they would not provide a copy, only gave me info over the phone to direct questions? What can happen with the AH system? Does the steering lock or the brakes or both? Just talked to the dealer I bought it thru and they said the BCM needs to be replaced? Sound right? Any way to completely disable the AH, not sure I understand all I know about the different modes from reading the OM. Apparently the AH, TC , and ABS are all affected by the handling button on the console? I haven't had much time to fool around with the car, it's in AZ I'm in AK until next month. THANKS for your info and help... Much appreciated!!!
