I really wan to get my 09 m6 coupe cammed, but even after days of researching and searching this forum I am still unsure. I have to drive at least 3 days a week, 80 mile round trip to work but I want more power and that cammed sound sooo bad I can't stand it anymore!!!! What cam would you recommend? anyone DD with a cam?

I DD a 2010 M6 call me I can make you one you will like if it's to big it will not be any fun to drive. Kip@ Cam Motion
Yeah, finding a cam that's big enough to do some good and small enough not to have "issues" is a tough call. Plus one guy's too big is another guy's too small. My blower cam is a 224/234 116+2. I wouldn't want to go any bigger for a DD. I have "0" tolerance for big cam issues though. You may not mind "shifting around" some of the big cam issues. Not for me. Problem is that my cam a 460-470 rwhp cam without a blower. With 9.5psi, it's a 664rwhp cam though
Are you totally against adding a blower? Best of all worlds for a DD.
Sorry for being "that guy". But it's a Corvette Forum rule that at least one of us blower guys has to jump on a cam thread and recommend a blower. It is what it is....

what sort of issues are you talking about needing to shift around? It's in my plans to add a mild to mediumly aggressive cam for street and maybe a bit of tracks days/drag racing. I'm curious about what downsides I will dislike. (my car is a manual) will I still be able to cruise on the highway in 6th smoothly at low rpm?
If you have never been in a cammed car it would be hard to explain. Basically a good dd cam depends on the aggresiveness of the lobes ramp rate, duration, lobe separation angle, etc. Also what is your tolerance of what is too much or too little. The best advice is to talk to a cam spec guru and tell them exactly what you want and how you want it to behave. Clearly a good tuner comes into the equation as well. A cam that is too big for the average guy will buck and surge at low rpms below 2k and typically around 1.4k. The work around is to downshift and keep it above those rpms. Hope that helps.
Pitufina put it pretty well. Overlap is what you need to look closely at as far as I'm concerned. I've had a +9, a +2.5, -3 (current cam), and several more in the negatives. With the +9 overlap cam, I could tell if I was going against or with the wind. Against the wind, cruising at 60 in sixth gear was OK. Cruising with the wind, I'd shift to 5th because of the surging. Also, you see less than perfect manners going up and down hills in 6th. The +2.5 o/l cam wasn't as bad, but it still had a few low rpm issues. The -3 and smaller cams had pretty much stock like manners.
Again, it's a personal preference thing. Some don't mind that stuff at all. A spot on tune sure helps, but won't totally eliminate issues with a higher overlap cam. That's been my experience anyway.

I would ask these guys Cartek, they picked my cam perfectly for DD and this car was an LS3 and ran that time a long time ago without a bunch of bolt/ons supporting the H&C also it was a FULL WEIGHT C6 with no skinnies drag pack no tricks both seats driven to the track on pump 93 octane even the rims with the dragradials were very heavy, I'm sure LS1LT1 remembers what they were. in my opinion this certainly would have been the fastest LS3 MANUAL C6 if a drag person finished it for the 1/4

I've always been curious if there is a formula for identifying the right size cam for each scenario. Everyone has different goals and cams come in all sizes to meet those goals. Just curious, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being most important, how would you rate these items?
whatever you do don't just buy an off the shelf can unless it has been recommended by a cam guru that knows what you're looking for.
don't cheap out...do it once and be done with it.
