The Corsa will indeed drone at a certain RPM but the question still remains: Which do you want? More HP or more sound? If it's the former, invest in headers. If it's the latter, invest in a used non-Z-06/ZR-1 NPP. I'm sorry to sound so blunt but what your wife or the community likes or your history of Corvette ownership is irrelevant. What is it that you want from an exhaust precisely?
I'm assuming sound in which case you're looking for a switchable catback and BB Fusions come to mind.

I agree. Assuming, of course, you don't have NPP right now, the best course of action per your wishes would be to pick up a used NPP exhaust and controller if you want the sound.
Personally, I'd just leave everything alone until trading it in for a C7 but if you must, pick up an exhaust you like but keep your old parts since you won't get a dime for your investment come trade-in time.
If you're going to leave the rest of the exhaust stock, either will do you fine. I've had both. My Corsa sports had 0 drone. None. That was behind long tube headers, no cats, and 650 hp. Yes, could hear a little exhaust note at crusie, but not anything remotely resembling any annoying drone. They sounded damn good at WOT too.
The NPP's can be had cheaper in the used market, but you have to factor in some type of controller and either do it yourself or pay someone to install the cans and the controller. The NPP's can also crack internally and give you problems there. That's what happened to mine and was the reason for grabbing a pair of used Corsa Sports. Got lots of compliments on how that Vette sounded.
A really cheap way to go would be to use NPP's with just a vacuum line run back to them. No controller. They'd only open in the absence of vacuum. IE, hard on the throttle. You can find the Z06 dual mode mufflers usually quite a bit cheaper, but you'll need a muffler shop to do the install as the pipe size is different. The NPP's are a simple bolt on.
i would say since you don't sound like you are doing headers, you would be happy either way. with the npp's i would install the mild to wild controller (very easy) and its completely silent with them closed and if you want some sound you can open them on command. the corsas dont drone but sound good. either way is fine really
Kingman , from what I've read I'd be leaning heavily towards the NPPs if I were you. Look in the for sale section and wait for a nice set to come up for sale and buy a controller for the valves so you can have quiet when you want it.
I have the Corsa sports on my car with about 800rwhp. Cam, headers, catless x pipe and it doesn't drone on the highway. I can listen to the radio or have a conversation with someone while on the highway. Tolerance to drone is different for everyone and maybe I am a little less sensitive to it than others.
