Default New exhausst system

Gentleman, I am new to forum and need some sound advice on an exhaust system for 2007 corvette. I have been doing my research but there seem to be so many choices. I am looking to get the nice "throaty" sound out of a new system without being too loud. I enjoy the nice quiet ride the car gives me but I miss the true muscle car sound when I want to get aggressive. I read the posts on the mild to wild systems and think that may be a direction to go in. Can I get some pros and cons on exhaust systems? Should I wait until I can do the entire exhaust from the headers back or will I be pleased by just changing the exhaust without the headers?

welcome to the forum.
this place has a ton of info on just about anything you can think of it has probably been asked and answered numerous times. the search function will keep you reading for days.
and just so you know...if you add long tube headers and x-pipe (catted or not) it will alter the tone of any axle back you choose so choose wisely.

The NPP exhaust system where not offed on the vets until 08.

So to do the mild to wild mod, you first need a OEM set of 08 NPP axle back mufflers to swap out with your mufflers with (Craigslist, and they go for around $700 as a pull offs, and they need to be from a 08 vet, not a later model).

The gates on the NPP mufflers is controlled by a vacuum port on the back of your intake manifold (you have this on your car, so tubing out of the port, then Y'd to the both mufflers will have the mufflers is quiet mode ).

In line on the vacuum tubing, you will need a 12V vacuum solenoid (less than $10) so you can stop the vacuum on the line going to the mufflers to allow the muffles gates to open up to put the car into loud mode.

A standard push button is only a few dollars since the 12V vacuum solenoid draws less then 1 amp), and if you want to go remote instead to open and close them, then $20 for it.

You have a few options. Obviously you could search for an NPP exhaust system for your year car. The exhaust pipe routing changed in certain model years so check on this and verify pipe routing before buying. There is a company that makes a kit called NPP in a box gives you the vacuum and electric parts to make the bi mode exhaust control.

Secondly, You could just buy a quality replacement muffler and forget the bi mode option, Look at Corsa, Flow master, etc.

I was reading some old posts from before the NPP option arrived in 2008. Some owners found that drilling holes into the stock mufflers of a specific size diameter, and in the correct location would give them the amount of sound they wanted. Since you may want to buy new exhaust anyways, drilling some holes to make some sound might be a cheap and easy alternative, and if you don't like it, you were planning to replace anyway.

search around here for old posts regarding drilling holes into the stock mufflers.
