headers
hello people out there Im thinking bout getting some headers for my car.the question I have which one should I go with hi flow cats or deleted cats. My car is a daily driver,any suggestions?thanks

I'm wondering about this...I'm contemplating going w/out cats...One of the only cars that I have stood next to that didn't have cats was an old muscle car. It smelled like sweet fragrance, like alcohol or a mixed drink or something to that extent. I was intoxicated by that scent, like a drug. It was by no means an unpleasant odor. I am curious, is this because he was running a different fuel than 93 octane or was this the scent of running w/out cats? If that was the smell of no cats and pump gas. I like the scent!

Hi jonesc6, aFe power has some headers for the C6 corvettes either Catted or non catted. The difference in power between the 2 is small maybe a 2hp difference. I know most choose to go with cats on their daily due to the noise level being reduced, and ours are a tri-y type of design making stable consistent power through out the RPM range.

We do A LOT of A/B testing with cars on the dyno, new and old, trying to see the difference between running a quality 50-State legal and going catless. The difference is almost always negligible in terms of power. We can also echo the sentiments of some of the other people in this thread and say that the 2-4 hp you might see aren't worth living with unburnt fuel smell all the time. Also, on newer cars, running catless can mess up all kinds of things and the car may end up running worse. Just some food for thought!

Best guess, either running alcohol or race fuel, which produces that sweet smell, and not the foul smell of unburnt pump fuel instead.

Like others above, I went with LG Super Pro headers and their high flow cats. They are still ticket loud with the NPP in Open mode, but no smell.
I have the replacement pipes, and one day I may take out the cats just to play for a day or so, but mine is a daily driver, and I personally like it with the cats.

Thanks for the feed back guys. On a side note about cats; I have been told that the skill of the tuner has a lot to do w/the 'smell' when running long tubes w/out cats. Someone told me before that if the tune is spot on, there will be no smell (this is just what I heard) Is there any weight to that statement?

, I know i been that guy next to a friends car like this. But ultimately it is your choice.
