Default B&B PRT s

i have a question, does anyone have the Prt s on their LS3 manual tran.? i put mine on last year, i have the ZO6 manifolds, X pipe, as well as the bi modes, i replaced the bi modes with PRT s and was assured they would not drone.
the vendor couldn t help me much, suggested i call B&B, i did, and the customer service guy, Mike, must be having a bad day, i explain what i have and he starts cursing and swearing. Terrible representative of the company. the drone on these is deadly, he said impossible. My qurestion is, does anyone have drone with these ??

I just switched from Bullets to PRT. The PRT is worlds better than the Bullets in regard to drone. I'm not sure why you're having a problem, unless you just have very sensitive ears.

I just had them installed to replace Borla Touring that had horrible drone. Made the trip back from Orlando area to Atlanta and love the sound. no drone. I also have LG long tubes on an 2011 tuned LS3

I had them on my 05 with headers and high flow cats and there was drone in 6th gear (manual) on the highway. I switched to Corsa sports that have zero drone, and sound great!

thanks gents. not sure if has anything to do with the 3" all the way off the manifolds, but i would think not, as some are running headers and no cats. doesn t make sense to me, don t want to put the bi modes back on and have new prt s sitting in my garage that i can t sell.
i will have to look at other options.

B&B sells a x-pipe with resonaters built in, that would definitely help.

I have a set of PRT's on my '13 A6 with a set of Pfadt headers and a Pfadt x-pipe with cats. This setup is a good bit nastier than just Z06 manifolds, flow wise. I love it.

The car is pretty loud when I want it to be, but there's no drone on the highway unless I'm at high load in high gear (like, accelerating up a hill in 6th). Even then, I don't consider it to be unpleasant.

When you say "drone", do you mean cruising on the highway, low load (flat road, constant speed, low throttle, not accelerating)? that's where I define drone to exist. Anywhere besides that and, to me, it's desirable engine noise that I want to be able to have loud.

Now, the automatic transmission produces some interesting sound harmonics due to the torque converter, shift points, and being able to shift with throttle applied. Because of this, my system should be even louder than yours. And still nothing I would consider drone. Yeah, it's a good bit louder than stock, but nothing about it is unpleasant. It's not really any more noticeable (to me) on the highway than the stock setup.

The PRT system was designed specifically to eliminate drone. Similar to Corsa's setup, from what I understand, except they flow better when you get into modified motors (heads, cam, FI, etc). On a nearly stock motor, you shouldn't have any drone. I don't expect to experience any drone after I throw a cam in the car, either. Are you positive that yours is a PRT system and not the bullets? That's the only thing I can think of, short of a damaged or defective muffler.

Just my opinion/experiences.

yes, definatley PRT s, i would say the worst is 16-1700 rpm high gear on the flats, and tends to increase going up a bit of a grade / hill. i had Corsas on my C5 with headers, heads, cam, and definatley half the noise of this setup.

thanks for your thoughts.

I have Bullets and no Drone. They're pretty loud though, I may have been defended by them an cannot hear any drone. I have straight pipes though, no cats or mufflers involved at all. Thus the hearing loss.

Good lucky, love my B&B exhaust. Seems like everyone has a Corsa, and I like to be different.

I had prt's on a heads/cam/headers no cats ls3 and drone was minimal. They were loud, but it wasn't drone. I have borla touring now and it's almost quiet as stock mufflers. Funny how everyone has such different perspectives.
