Default My 2005 differential question

I have a 2005 6 speed and am wondering if my 2005 diff internals will fit into a C5 2001-2004 HD 3 rib diff. Mine is 342 ratio and I understand I need the correct c5 case for them, 315 and up. I would be installing 410's anyway. Thank you

The insides are the same. In fact, I believe that the pinion bearing in those is bigger and a recommended upgrade for 2006 and up diffs (at least that is what RPM told me when they sold it to me).

Thank you. I want to use my 2005 internals because it is very low mileage and wont have to buy bearing, etc. I already installed a C6 Zo6 upgrade kit in my 2005 diff, so all that will go into the C5 HD 3 rib case. I will need to buy a C5 diff to C6 mount from Stanger and will install 410's. I am thinking I will save a lot of money and have a much stronger diff for my 2005. I know I will have to have the gears set up by a professional. What do you think about this idea? Am I nuts?

I would do it. The real issue, in my opinion, is getting all the shims you need to put it together.

Well, I telephoned rpm today. They want $1,795. for a stage 2 2006 C6 diff. plus $1,340. for the kit to make it fit my 2005. for a total of $3,150.00. I can buy a 2003 C5 HD 3 ribb diff for $410. delivered, buy 410 gears for $340 and $210 for mount for a total of $960. This does not include ring and pinion set up which I have not got a price on yet. I would bring the C5 diff to a shop for set up and install it myself. I do not know who in my area that would do that, NY, NJ, CT, PA, and for how much. I have done about 6 different change of r&p on other cars myself in the past but I do not think I should tackle this one. What do you think again?

These guys are in NJ. I bought several things including my diff brace from them.

Thank you. I emailed Cartek last week and asked them if they would set up my R&P last week and never got a response from them, so I am thinking they are not interested in my business.
