Default MAF question

I am going from FI to NA and need to buy a CAI and MAF. I am only shooting for 500ish rwhp. My question is do I just get a stock ls2 MAF with a good CAI (open to suggestions) or something like a LPE, ABACO, etc MAF?

Note that I have ported ls3 heads, TB and intake. Custom cam, 1 7/8 LTH w/ no cats

thanks

Chances are your MAP is set up 2 bar now for the FI, and will need to go back to single bar MAP tune.

Talk to your tuner since this will need to be changed in the tune.

Also would help to know that motor, and even what CAI, since the Vararam CAI intake already comes with a over size MAF for the LS-2, and some of the later model vet CAI use the later model Vet's side mount MAF don't have the restriction problems as the LS-2 inline MAF's instead.

was running a 3 bar SD tune and I've already switched back, hence why now looking for a MAF

it is an 06 l2 with mods posted in first post. thought about the vararam but not sure if it would interfere with an oil cooler if I mount one in front?

what size is the stock MAF?

Since you're tuning anyway, just get an ls3/ls7 card style maf. It will read high enough for your application and can be had for fairly cheap.

thanks for the offer but ls3/7 can be had for about the same. of course I would need to buy the pigtail but should work better for my application.

LPE has an 85 MAF and they can send a starting MAF curve.

Are you referring to a 2 bar MAP sensor?

Yes, typo, but have to ask, just how much boost where you throwing at the motor to need a 3bar map sensor?

A 2bar map sensor will measure up to 14.7psi of boost, while a 3bar map will measure up to 29PSI of boost instead.

Better yet, if you where running a built motor at 15+PSI of boost, how could you ever go back to a N/A motor again?

2 bar is good to 200kpa so depending on altitude it can be 14.7 or higher or lower (maybe not lower as that is sea level I believe) but yes that is a good rule of thumb.

I was close to maxing out the sensor which causes issues so installed 3 bar and ran a 2.5 COS

A 2bar map sensor will measure up to 14.7psi of boost, while a 3bar map will measure up to 29PSI of boost instead. [/QUOTE]

2 reasons. I have a TT car making more than that and I have an awful disease known as a fool with his money
