Had an issue with a plug lead coming off. Ran for about an hour noticing engine was sluggish.
After an hour of running a check engine light came on and a message saying service ride control.
Pulled over to inspect and found a plug lead had come completely off.
Reattached and message went away but still have check engine light on (not flashing).
Ideas ? Engines seems to be running fine
A friend of mine says he has an ongoing problem with a plug lead coming off but says once reattached, check engine light goes out.
Never had problems with plug leads coming off. Is this a normal issue with newer vetted ?
If you are not coating the inside of the plug wire boots with a light layer of dielectric grease, then yes normal for the plug wires to not be fully snapped in place to begin with or stay snapped in.
Hence the very end of the boot get stuck to the plug as you are sliding it down on the plug, and when you push the wire on the plug so semi clip it in place, it compresses the rubber boot longways to hold a tension, and this and built up air pressure in the boot causes the top connector part of the boot to lift back up and unplug the connector.
So dielectric grease and a Q tip to apply a light coat to the inside of the boots is the the answer to the problem.

ok thanks. I guess what I am asking is whether anyone else has had this happen straight from the factory. I have never had a plug lead ever come off a vehicle. I will do what you recommend and see if it holds.
