Default 05 Diff Broke, Need help with part numbers

Broke the diff cover clean off at the track today when launching it at about 800hp at the crank. I am wanting to convert to a c6 z06 diff using a t56 tail housing and 30 spline main shaft. Looking for part numbers for the housing and for the diff. I understand I will need new cv axles too? If so the part numbers. I have looked into the built diffs by rpm and dte and I think oem would be fine with a trans brace....thoughts? I do all my own work so all of it would be parts costs only which is why I am considering this route. I do not have slicks on the wheels but the track was prepped very well when it snapped.

Go to the Zip website they have it all listed and for sale. You won't need axles, but you will need to change the output shaft of the transmission to match up.

Thanks I will check that out. Yes im aware, I have a feeling the runout on this shaft will be trashed anyways, I rebuilt the transmission 2 months ago so I'd rather keep grinding on it with a better diff.

Zip seems to have a great selection however they do not list any gm part numbers. Does anyone know the 06-08 part number for the z06 diff mated to the t56?

Pick the year you want and this will lead down the path of whatever you want.

The catalogs didn't have entire diff assembly part numbers. Anyone else knows?

Yes it's a manual. For anyone that would like an update.... gm does not have a fully built diff, they will only sell you all the parts for one. A factory assembled getrag unit can be had from Zip or somewhere else I imagine although Zip offers a 3yr warranty. To go to a Z06 diff you will need the extension housing, longer bolt, 30 spline mainshaft on the transmission, snap ring kit, mainshaft pocket bearing and race, mainshaft rear bearing and race. This is because it is almost impossible to pull off the caged bearing without damage. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I'd have gone straight to the best (RPM Transmissions) and called it a day.

Try 19206298 for the tail housing

(if that's it, Amazon has one in stock for $144 delivered, not sure that's what you're looking for though)

Let me know if it works.. I have an 05 too so I'm worried about the diff. I get a quote from RPM to swap mine over to new style and it was NOT cheap, so that's why I started looking for part numbers.

How much did your rear end handle before it let go? I don't do any drag racing so I hope it will be OK for a while.

I drove it over a year with 800 at the crank and I drag raced it about 15 passes until it broke. Stock ones have broken sooner so there is no way to know. I had an ecs brace on the whole time. Part number 19132778 is the tail housing btw.

Mine is that large and it bent some of the trans brace bolts on the side cover plate near the back.

I built a diff out of all new parts with a Quaife and if I had it to do over again, I would buy a used diff on the forum and then put the parts I want into it. The amount of small parts needed is real pain. I used the link I posted to find all the part numbers, it was a just a lot of time consumed to get them all.

I kept my stock 2006 diff just in case I ever need it as a spare.

I would have to say that is a little presumptuous.

No disrespect but I would have to say that is from experience.
