When I bought my 2008 from a forum member, he mentioned the only issue with the car was that several times the cruise had failed to work, and that was in colder weather. (LA area). I've had the same issue, but here in Wisconsin, it's more of an issue.
Below about 50 ambient temp, the cruise won't activate. I've tried turning the switch off and back on, etc.
last evening, after about 60 miles on the freeway, it worked. (Everything on the car was thoroughly warmed up). That's the third time I've experienced that.
Any thoughts of cause? Place to look for repair?
Thanks
Cruise control not working below certain temp? That's an unusual one and I'd think it's all electronics, even computer-related. For that, I can only think of the dealer, but you might call a service dept. or two and ask if it's been reported elsewhere and in their system from other owners before you make an appointment. I also don't know if the cruise disengages if it senses slip (I doubt it), but certainly as temps get colder/cooler, the chance of slight frost/moisture causing slipping tires can occur, depending on a lot conditions (tires, road surface, time of day, etc.).
Ditto, either programing, or a wiring/sensor issue.
If the car is a manual, then the first switch comes to mind is the Home/ top of pedal switch, and if the car has say a tick master cylinder, may just be that the pedal is relaxing from top of stoke position to deactivate the switch, and what is not allowing the cruse to be set.
And Yes, a Tech II will pick up on the problem real quick of what is not like the other, and tell you what the problem is on the lower temps of why the cruse is not working below 50*.
