Default Strange issue with T56

Lately, I have noticed that the location of my fifth gear has....well, moved. When I had the stock shifter, occasionally, I'd mover over to 5th, or where 5th is supposed to be, and it wouldn't catch. I then noticed if I made a concerted effort to move just a .5" over to the right of 3rd, I'd catch 5th. I then decided to install the newest version MGW shifter with the billet lower box. My first week, it was heaven. When I'd shift to 5th, it would feel like I hit a wall, then easily be able to slide up. Inexplicably, that "wall" has vanished, and the shifter feels like 5th is to the very far right. Can someone please shed some light on what might be going on here? I've been doing some research and starting to look into the reverse lockout solenoid. Any ideas would be considered helpful.

Chances are you did not tighten the coupling T-40 bolt tight enough (bolt 8), and maybe even the two lower housing side T-40 bolts (bolts 10) as well.

The torque value for all three is 22ft lbs, and not a bad idea to use 242 Blue loctite on them too.

So pull the center bezel, the top rubber plate, and then re-index the shifter again; making sure to torque all three bolts to 22ftlb, and use Blue loctite on the bolt threads.

Short of that, someone was been banging/sling-shoting on the shifter (instead of allowing the trans to sync into gear by itself), and either the coupling at the back of shaft to trans is loose (back side of part 9, and now oblong at the through pin), or something in the trans has gone south instead.

That did it. I took everything apart yesterday and 're-assembled. This time, I used blue loctite. So far so good.

Glad it's working better. Remember that the shifter doesn't need to be pushed hard...concentrate on being gentle with it, even when shifting fast under hard acceleration.
