Default Starting issue

I am in the process of rebuilding a wrecked C6. I have never seen the car run so I don't know what normal is during startup. Using the start button the starter will not engage at all. I can get the car to start by connecting the purple wire going to the starter solenoid to the positive terminal on the battery. So that rules out the starter and battery. Is there anything that would prevent the computer from trying to turn the starter over? I also tried switching the starter relay inside the relay box with the defrost relay. The cars abs module is still out and I need to send the airbag controller out to be cleared. Does anybody have a wiring diagram for a base c6?

Seems to me a couple of issues still need to be cleared before the ecm will let you start.

A buddy with a tech two will be real handy or a auto body will have it or have somebody they know.

ECBM connector has a Lan pass through on it through the ECBM, and with the plug unplugged from the ECBM, mostly likely the root of the problem.
(read car will not start if you pull the VCIM and don't jump out the lan on that connector, and would think the same here.

B10 TN 2501 High Speed GMLAN Serial Data (-)

B11 TN/BK 2500 High Speed GMLAN Serial Data (+)

B12 TN/BK 2500 High Speed GMLAN Serial Data (+)

I can't post it here, but if you want the EBCM connectors wiring diagram (doc #1451944), then IM me your email address and I can scan and attach the 8 pages that I just printed out on it in a email back to you.

P.S, got to ask, how are you rebuilding the car without the GM service manual to start with?

Thanks Dano523. I bought the car totaled but intact. So I labeled every nut/bolt as I disassembled it. I also labeled both ends of every harness I unplugged. With a little luck hopefully it will run again. It took quite a while to take apart. But it made it easy going back together.

Dan, just emails them over to you.
But if anyone else needs them, put them in media fire for download.

I installed the ecbm today still no luck. I used a scan tool I see error code U0100 sounds like it is a general communication failure. I see it could be the ecm, ebcm or even the tcm. Any tips on narrowing it down?

I found the problem. Broken can bus wires near the ABS module. All two tan and two tan/black were broken in the wreck. After those were fixed if fired right up.

Ditto, and may have lucked up with the problem in an area easy to spot.

Hence for the love of god, and still not figure out whey GM installed Two wire loom male/ female mating connectors above the ECM/TCM in a blind spot that you would have to send in a small monkey to find and solve a problem there.

They are are up behind the scm panel above the ECM, and he only way to get up there, is up through the opening just above the ECM with either the fender removed, or the back wheel well panel removed.

I definitely got lucky. I started at the ECM working backward with a multimeter testing for continuity and pretty much found it the first test. I have no inner or outer fenders on yet so the wires were easily to get to. The wiring diagrams helped out immensely.
