I had a metal object fall off a truck in the lane next to me and proceed to go under my car and beat the crap out of everything. I have a couple holes and a bunch of dents in the exhaust and mufflers, as well as a quarter size chunk taken out of the leaf spring. From a BMW class I took, they spoke of any chip or scratch harming the integrity of a composite part. I noticed that the composite threads are fraying a bit around the damage. Is this something I need to make sure is replaced? Thanks in advance for any help.
Car Insurance, and use it for them to replace the damage parts, including the spring.
Also, since the repair report is going to show up on a carfax, file for depreciation resale value with your insurance company as well.
And before the car repair shop calls the job finished, have them put it up on a lift and go through the bottom of the car with a fine tooth comb for anything that they missed replacing.
Again, the repair is going to show up on Carfax, so when you go to sell the car, and who every buys from you later, is going to look at the bottom of the car as well to make sure that the repairs where all done correctly.
I would replace for piece of mind. I would not expect a "depreciation claim" payout.
I will most likely have to check with Keith, the Corvette tech at Courtesy Chevrolet as to the integrity. Basically it needs the front cover R&i and painted ( which I can do myself ) a new rubber deflector up front, new exhaust and the spring. There are a couple dings in the heat shields and a gouge in the front cradle, but nothing that would affect the cradle's integrity. Hopefully the company responsible will take care of it. Thanks!
