I have done several exhaust systems and the ATAK system is my favorite. No drone and great sound.
I did however have an issue with my X-pipe being bent wrong, this was an early kit. I imagine that was either a fluke or has been rectified.
The X pipe does not come with the axle over system. If he gets headers the X pipe comes with that kit. It looks like the Stingers are now called the S-TYPE.Borla has a life time guarantee & great customer service......

Stingers and ATAK systems are not the same. They look alike, but the internals are different.
The ATAK system gas four internal perforated pipes that are all different from each other to cancel out resonant frequencies. They did a real good job of taking out the drone.
None of the cat back exhausts add HP. For almost the same cost as the Borla cat back, you can get a set of quality headers with X pipe and perform the muffler mod on your stock mufflers. This will definitely improve the sound and add HP.
For the second part of your question, I'm not a fan of the Vararam. Very poor quality. After 6 months mine was warped and pulling in unfiltered air. Look at HallTech air intake systems.

Borlas website does not show the Stingers anymore?? There is no drone with the Stringers, and I have LTs with a small cam.

I was wrong" The S-Type are the Stringers, at least that's what they was called in 2008.

If you want great sound, you can't beat the Bullets. The ATTAK copied them to a large degree, but are much more expensive. Vararams give the best numbers, but I went with a Halltech 105S Superbee with minor shroud opening. Vararams seem to have many detractors from a quality perspective, another thing to consider. Chevy says the NPP gives 6 hp with a much smaller and more restrictive setup, so it's not hard to believe Bullets give you 12 or so. Some don't like the Bullet's supposed drone, but it doesn't bother me at all. And nothing is louder, if that's key to you.
I will Buy the Halltech air intake, but i was looking to get the Corsa Xtreme with an x-pipe but i think they do do the kit in the xtreme for the z06, i hope its not true ... ?!
