Default C6 Shock recommendations and suggestions

Recently I've been looking into replacing the stock shocks on my c6. I don't really want to spend the money on coil-overs yet. Ive found plenty of others but just want some feedback on them. Bilstein 46mm mono tube s seem like a good option. The Johnny O'connell series by afe are also on the list. Ive heard of others like Koni but can't find any reviews on them. If anyone has any suggestions or insight into good shocks please let me know as a price range I don't want to spend more then $1000 at this time.

Is your car a base, Z51 or GS? What year? What do want from the car, handling over ride or ride over handling?

Base 2011, and handling over ride, the best performance.

Many here have been very happy with swapping Bilstein Sport shocks, about $350(ish), and Z51 sway bars, about $275(ish) and, if you want to go all the way to Z51 swap to the Z51 front spring, I don't remember the cost on that. You only need the Z51 front spring because the base rear spring is actually a little bit stiffer than the Z51 rear spring.

Koni FSD shocks are also recommended but they are at least double the cost of the Bilsteins so that would eat into your sway bar and possible spring money.

I already have a hotchkis sway bar set, so do you think it would be worth it to get the konis? I have not talked to anyone who has them so I don't know how they compare to the bilsteins.

Viking also supposedly has some good adjustable shocks. More money, though.. but not too crazy either.
