Default B&B Exhaust Install Help

Quick question ('10 GS Coupe btw)...

To install the cat back system do I really need to disconnect the rear swaybar? I was looking under the car and it looks like that step might not be needed but I'm not sure.

Also, can I do this backing the car onto RaceRamps or for sure does the rear need to be jacked up and put in jack stands?

Many thanks...

Just had a Corsa system installed, the sway bar has to be dropped down, taking the X-pipe loose helps removing the factory mufflers. I don't think race-ramps will get you high enough.

You'll have a hard time getting the stock cans out otherwise unless you plan to cut them, and ramps should be enough.

How big of a pain is this install working from jack stands?

it can be done , i used wood blocks between the jack and the cradle to be able to lif the car higher. jackit up put stands in lower, then put the blocks on the jack and raise it higher. also i used jack stands on the front also for more clearance. otherwise the front bumper drags

Ok, cool. I'm hoping the ramps are enough since garage space is tight. Is it ok to loosen sway bar on ramps since the car won't be jacked up in the air and the weight will still be on the wheels?

Do not remove the end links on the sway bar, just the bushings clamps. Then let the sway bar swing down.

This will allow enough room to get the factory cans out with no issue.

Lower the car into your ramps to torque things back down.

What he said, I did this last week and you will definitely appreciate the extra space from using jack stands and dropping the sway bar.

Ah, ok...

Sounds like I need to jack the car up to do this. I was hoping to get by just driving up onto ramps and not jacking up the car. I have the equipment just concerned jacking up the can with limited space in a tandem garage.

Do I need to buy those puck things to jack up the car?

depends on the jack you are using, if your points of contact on the jack are small enough to fit in the holes where you would put the pucks then no you don't need them. if you have a larger contact plate then most likely yes unless you pull the car up onto the ramps before you jack it up.

Loosening the rear sway bar takes 30 seconds. Remove the one nut and one bolt per side that attaches it to the rear cradle. With those removed, the bar will rotate down and out of the way. It took me far longer to type this than what it takes to do it.
