Default GM Recall

received a letter from GM stating there is a recall on my 2009 Vette, base model. The dealer replaced the catalytic converters and the x-pipe and all the gaskets and reprogramed the engine control module. Well,I cant believe the improvement this recall did for my car.The perofrmance is unreal. My car is faster then it was new,and the car is idling smoother and quieter. The tuning removed a hesitation my car had increased the acceleration. My cars performance has really improved. Rod

Did the "X" pipe replacement include two additional catalytic converters (4) total or just two replacement catalytic converters and a new "X" or "H" pipe allowing proper fitment?

Did it say what model years {if any?} were coverd by the recall? and we've tried to tell you about what a tune could do, now imagine what a "custom" tune would be like.

I combined both threads. The letter is for 2009 basic Vettes only. The dealer installed (2) catalytic cinverters in front of the X pipe.My car came w/2 converters.I am quite aware about tuning. This is my (4) th Vette and all the others were tuned and (1) engine built by A&A. The reason I haven't tuned this Vette is its still under warranty.Come Sept. if I haven't traded it in on a new Vette,I will have it tuned and a few months when the warranty elapses. I was so elated I wash and waxed the jalopy and drank a(6) pack of Fat tire Beer.

Congrats on finding some joy with the old girl.
The new found power could be that one or both cats had partially failed, rather than any tuning changes.

I didn't think about possible cat failure, but it makes sense. I have a car that is much faster also and it didn't cost me a dime. i feel like my car got modded. Rod

Hi,

Just to clarify, they replaced the original cats and installed a new x-pipe(only two cats total)?

Or did they replace the original cats and add a x-pipe with two extra cats for four total? I will need to get this done later in the year.

Thanks

DJ

accoriding to the parts list in the recall they would be replacing two cats on mine, and adding two more that arent currently there
