Ok, got a C6 now and posting a lot of questions.
What's the difficulty level in tinting the rear glass on a C6 coupe?
I'm a DIY kinda guy, but those contours look like they'd be hard.
Ive tinted a couple cars using pre-cut kits on flat glass. The quality of work was definitely good enough for old beaters but for a Corvette no way. And thats flat glass with no cutting!
Curvature like the rear window is worst case scenario. Lots of heat-gunning and shrink fitting required. I would say pay someone to do it unless you are dead set. It is maximum difficulty.
If you really want to do it yourself, I would buy the cheapest tint you can get to practice with. You can always peel it off (I think...or maybe it will damage the defroster lines...not good)
But doing it in one-shot with no experience is going to be close to impossible I think.
OTOH, there are tint forums out there where you would probably get great advice. If you do it please post pics and make a thread, I'd really like to see how that gets done!
Most pros have trouble with corvette back windows because of the shape and dot matrix.
my guy in Marina Ca painted the dot matrix. he "fitted&trimmed" the piece on the out side of the window "heatgunned it" and then installed it. It is FLAWLESS!!! ceramic tint $250 just for the back window, but it is FLAWLESS!!!! I love when I see people in any kind of car with all the bubbles I ask them if they paid for that
