Default Exhaust measurement

I have a 2005 Vette 6.0L LS2 I just put an exhaust on the car, i measured the pipes which go over the axle and connect to the H pipe and they measure 3" where does the 2.5 measurement come from that i hear they are supposed to be from the factory is it 2.5 at the exhaust manifold

So it would be the H pipe and the over axle pipes that are 2 1/2 inches.

And if your's aren't 2.5", then you must not be the original owner.

Wrap a string around the pipe and use PI.

2.5 x 3.14=7.85"

3.0 x 3.14=9.42"

My 2011 Z06 is supposed to have a 3" exhaust. Well its 3" all the way to the muffler but right where it goes into the mufflers it narrows down to 2 1/2".

That's correct and it has been that way on all Z06's since the 2006 MY.
